Poetry Portfolio:Preface
Note from the author:Even though you are teenagers (or adults), who think about grades, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends or anything, I believe that you have thought of the old times when your mommy read you a storybook once in a while. You would listen to her soft voice, as it streams through your ears and turns into a lullaby. These poems will be just like that. Fantasy, dreams and hopes that live in your heart, where it was kept inside, will come out as you read these poems. When I looked back and went through all of my poems, I realized that I was missing my childhood and wrote about little stories and my feelings. Good old days were compelling me into memories. As you read my poems, I wish you could feel the same thing too.I have written Horrible Singer, The Stairs, How to Fall in Love, I've Met a Child, and Snow Queen. If you say to pick my favorite, is the Snow Queen. The reason is, because I have written this with strong interest. I was eager to write about this "Queen". I was actually visualizing the display of her sitting on an icy throne. She is beautiful and magnificent, but lonely and empty. Before writing this poem, I've read the book and thought it was one of the best storybook I've ever read. It really dragged me into the story. So I was just crazy about it to share with you. Of course, other poems are great too. It's just that I was suggesting you and showing my ebullient attitude. I am so excited to present to all of you and wish you would like it.As I have worked on this assiduously, taking my time and thinking about the topic deeply, I believe and hope my work will transparently show and touch your feeling. This year was very productive. I seriously learned so many things in this class of the significance of the 6 Traits of Writing. Ideas, organization, voice, word choice, and conventions are equally crucial while writing an essay or poems. Ideas is very important to even start your writing, organization shows and emphasize sentences and keep the audience focus in your writing, voice shows how much you care and are interested in your own piece that can be appealing to other people, word choice can change the whole mood of the piece and conventions are the bridges to connect your sentences and paragraphs. Without all of these elements, writings I write will be lifeless and barren. Basically, the paper itself would be dead.
